Ian and I have been in an ongoing debate about laptops - I have been trying to persuade him about the validity of the Asus Eee.To make a ‘fair’ comparison between the Eee and a normal business laptop I have considered the five Eees (5 x £220 = £1,100) against Ian’s Thinkpad T61 (£1,100).
| 5 x Asus Eee | 1 x Thinkpad T61* | |
| Display | 800 x 2400 (assuming stacked vertically) |
1280 x 800 |
| CPU | Five Celeron M @ 900Mhz (~4.5Ghz) | Core 2 Duo @ 2Ghz (~4Ghz) |
| Memory | 2.5 Gb | 1 Gb |
| Storage | 20 Gb (Flash) | 160 Gb |
| Webcam | 5 x 300kb | n/a |
| USB ports | 15 | 3 |
| Battery | 5 x 3 hours using 4-cell battery | 5.3 hours using 6-cell battery |
| Weight | 10 lbs | 6 lbs |
*Lenovo T61 NI25WUK
So there you have it - “pound (£) for pound (£)”, the Asus outstrips a Thinkpad T61 on everything except weight (and a bit of storage)!
Have a good weekend,
Ian and Jon

You made a small mistake with in your comparsion: You can not accumulate the battery running time if you accumulate the CPU speed, display size etc. since I would say you can only accumulate the speed if all devices are running at the same time but then they will all drain their battery in 3 hours.
So to be really really fair, you should say that the T61 also outperforms the EeeEeeEeeEeeEeePC with the battery time!
@ Arne, you are absolutely right … boring
the 800×2400 display made me laugh so hard
Cluster???? HEHEHEHEHE
